Martin necks are glued into the body of the guitar at the neck block to assure the best transfer of string vibration. The neck block along with the corresponding neck is often referred to as the "neck joint".

Compound Dovetail Neck Joint

This neck joint is used on the Standard Series, Vintage Series, Golden Era Series & Authentic Series guitars.

 

Simple Dovetail Neck Joint

This neck joint is used on the 15 Series, 16 Series, 17 Series & Performing Artist Series guitars.

Mortise and Tenon Neck Joint

This neck joint is used on the X Series, 1 Series, Road Series & all guitars made in our Mexico facility.

Sure Aline Linear Dovetail Neck Joint Neck Joint

This neck joint is used on the "S" Model Guitars. These neck joints are not glued.
